Equipment Donated by Businesses etc.

e-Waste

You've decided to upgrade your I.T. equipment, have you thought about what to do with the hardware you're replacing?

Under current legislation it is now illegal to send to landfill, and data protection issues may make it difficult to sell on.

We can help. We provide a secure, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable solution for computer equipment recycling, including collection, data cleansing and as a registered charity if your equipment is fully functional and meets our minimum specifications for reuse, then your disposal might be tax-deductable as well.

All of which makes it easier for you to comply with current legal requirements such as the WEEE DirectiveOpens in a separate browser window and satisfy your corporate and environmental responsibility agenda in the process.

We welcome the donation of newer computers and IT equipment - please contact us if you have unwanted equipment, which can then be made available at cost to local charities.

There is no charge for a collection of ten or more items of above minimum specification and functional I.T. equipment from within Calderdale.

We can accept older IT equipment and arrange for appropriate recycling at competitive prices.

If the equipment is old, below minimum specification or contains waste items, then there will be a collection charge (usually a small capped fee to cover transport and/or disposal costs), and you may need to register your premises as a hazardous waste producer before we can collect your equipment.

If you are providing us with reasonably modern computer equipment in useable condition and can state that there are no scrap items, then it is not classed as electronic waste, and therefore there is also no requirement for you to register your premises or need waste consignment notes.

We can provide Waste Disposal Certificates to donors of equipment suitable for refurbishment - for Environmental Audit compliance and providing indemnity against any possible non-compliance fines relating to the disposal of IT equipment. Please note there may be a charge if you require us to provide a disposal certificate for lower specification computers.

The following rates may apply (though charges are generally capped to keep costs down) and remember if the equipment is functional and above our minimum specification, collection and disposal could be free
