Domain Name Registration

domain name registration

Domain names are web addresses. For example, in the following web address - www.dot-communications.co.uk - the 'dot-communications.co.uk' part is the domain name and is easier to remember than than a numerical IP address such as 74.125.77.104.

An important purpose of domain names is to provide easily recognisable and memorable identification to Internet resources such as websites. This allows any resource (e.g., website) to be easily moved to a different server or physical location.

In order to have a website on the Internet, you need access to a domain name! While its possible to get free webspace it will always be located in someone else's domain and you will need to display their pop-up windows or advertising banners at the top of each page.

For complete freedom (and the cost of a small fee), why not enjoy the name you want? We can help you register your chosen domain names and you can then use it as you wish, we also provide quality hosting and email accounts for local community sector websites.

We do not charge registered organisations based in Calderdale for this advice and support unless we are required to purchase the name on your behalf.

We strongly advise that all domain names are always registered in the organisation's name and at the organisation's official address (rather than the person doing the registration) from the outset.
