DOT-COMmunICaTions' 3R-iT Project is one of only a few Community Microsoft Registered Refurbishing Organisations within West Yorkshire.

The Community MAR programme authorises eligible refurbishers to install licenced copies of Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional, Windows 7 Professional and Microsoft Office Standard on eligible refurbished computers for a small fee. Community MARs work with both original owners and eligible recipients:

  • Original owners are organisations and individuals looking for responsible ways to dispose of hardware.

  • Eligible recipients are Eligible Charitable Organisations, Eligible Academic Users, and other Specially Approved Recipients (including people on low income0 wanting to obtain refurbished computers with legally-installed software licence.

To be eligible to receive Microsoft software with your refurbished equipment you have to be:

  • A Charitable Organisation including volunteers of a charitable organisation.

  • An academic user such as a student, at school or attending an education course.

    • Note: academic users can receive a Windows operating system but are NOT eligible to receive Microsoft Office software through the Community MAR Scheme.

  • Housing Benefit
  • Income Support
  • Jobseekers allowance
  • Pension credit
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Attendance Allowance / Constant Attendance Allowance
  • Incapacity Benefit / Employment and Support Allowance
  • Disability element of Working Tax Credit
 (DOT-COMmunICaTions and Microsoft may review the information you provide to check that computers are only going to people who qualify.)
 
  • Receiving less than £15,592 in the year

  • Or participating in a Computer Training Course.

Often, the original owner of a computer no longer has the computer's original media and documentation. In accordance with Microsoft licensing rules with these operating systems, both the original media and Certificate of Authenticity (COA) are required for the license to be transferred. The Windows™ XP Professional operating system is available for all refurbished computers distributed to eligible charities and individuals through the programme, Windows 2000 is also available for lower specification machines.

Windows™ 7 Professional is also available for installing on suitable systems for an additional charge

Microsoft Office Basic is currently available for computers supplied to eligible charitable organisations and other Microsoft-specially approved recipients, but not for eligible academic recipients (such as students or school children). There is a small additional charge for this service.

NOTE: All programs including the Operating System comes pre-installed on your new computer, we do not supply disks.

  • We install all necessary files and programs on the hard disk.
  • In the event of a problem, we can reinstall the operating system for an additional charge.

  • We do not supply operating systems unless they are installed by us or are purchased separately through us from one of our recommended discount suppliers.

Microsoft Packages can be installed in either Arabic, Czech, English, Polish or Russian if required. Please state at time of ordering if required. We currently supply PCs with an operating system only in those languages at present. However, if there is sufficient demand for one of the other languages listed below, please contact us and we will attempt to obtain it.

Windows XP Professional is available in Arabic, Chinese Simplified, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Traditional Chinese, Traditional Chinese Hong Kong, and Turkish.
