Receipt of Network Equipment

DOT-COMmunICaTions complies with the following Network Equipment Security Settings Standards.

Network Security Standards

As our typical DOT-COMmunications client would be classed as equivalent to a Small Office Home Office (SOHO), we would generally only supply and support network equipment suitable for deployment in these environments.

However, DOT-COMmunications, through its work recycling of all types of computer equipment, is experienced in the 'Depersonalisation' of donor sensitive data/configuration associated with all types and styles of networking equipment.

Receipt of Donor Equipment

Upon receipt all donor equipment is processed using well defined and documented processes. These processes define the following:

  • Receipt and recording of donated equipment.

  • External depersonalisation of donated equipment.

  • Destruction and/or erasing of donor data/configuration(s).

Receipt and recording of Donation

On receipt all equipment is:

  • Classified, type, model and serial number

  • Donor numbers recorded

  • DOT-COMmunications serial number issued

  • Donor documentation produced

External Depersonalisation of Donated Equipment

After recording all relevant data the external surfaces of the equipment are cleaned and checked for visible and non-visible (exposed to ultraviolet light) donor specific identifiers.

After detection all donor specific identifiers are removed or erased as appropriate.

Erasing of donor data/configuration(s)

The erasing of donor specific data from network equipment will be device specific. However, it is DOT-COMmunications' policy is to undertake to remove all traceability between the equipment donor and the recipient of a refurbished device or component. To this end DOT-COMmunications will ensure all network devices irrespective of size or capacity has been subject to the following processing

  • Restore factory settings

  • Removal of all information relating to:

    • Default gateways

    • Proxies

    • IPSec tunnel, termination points

    • Address filtering

    • NAT (RFC 1918)

    • Firewall

    • Policies

Whether it’s sensitive, personal or corporate information, you can rest assured that we take data security every bit as seriously as you do.

We provide complete peace of mind by guaranteeing all aspects of your data is properly deleted and on network equipment our centres will undertake the full factory reset to default of data contained on network switches and routers ensuring all customer-specific settings are removed.
